Noten

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Noten is designed as a local-first, client-side application. We do not operate server infrastructure to collect, store, or sell your personal details or notes.

1. Local Storage & Client-Side Encryption

All notes, tags, and formatting data are stored locally in your browser's database (IndexedDB via PouchDB). All data synchronized to the cloud is encrypted client-side using industry-standard cryptography before it leaves your device. Neither we nor third parties have access to your decryption keys or plaintext notes.

2. Third-Party Synchronization (Filen)

If you choose to enable cloud synchronization, Noten connects directly to the secure storage APIs provided by Filen (Filen Cloud Dienste). Your email, password, and two-factor authentication codes are used strictly to establish an encrypted session directly with Filen. We do not store or transmit your login credentials to any servers other than Filen's official API endpoints.

3. Data Collection

We do not collect diagnostics, crash reports, analytics, or behavioral data. The application operates in complete anonymity.

4. Contact & Support

Since this project is open-source, you can audit the source code, open issues, or contribute directly on our official repository.
